Disease On The Rise… 10 Times Higher Than Previously Estimated

The numbers are alarming.  A recent study by the CDC concluded that Lyme disease affects 300,000 Americans each year.  This figure is 10 times higher than anticipated.  Those suffering from Lyme disease may experience flu-like symptoms but the disease may progress and cause severe, potentially fatal, neurological problems.  Even more disturbing is that ticks may transmit a host of other dangerous illnesses that are often difficult to diagnose.  These include Heartland virus, Babesiosis, Powassan disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted fever and a severe allergic reaction to meat, when consumed.  It is difficult to control or eliminate the tick population, with climate disruption and change potentially contributing to its growth and longer life-span.  Read the details here.
