EMERGE 2016 IS HERE!!!!!!

Emerge

Save the Date – Emerge 2016!

Emerge: Artists + Scientists Redesign the Future, is back for 2016. http://emerge.asu.edu/

Please save the date:
Friday, April 29th
• 5-10 p.m.
• Wells Fargo Arena
• ASU Tempe campus.

Emerge is the largest, smartest and most surprising carnival in America that brings together artists, engineers, dancers, scientists, storytellers, athletes, ethicists and technologists to imagine and build futures in which we can thrive. It is a flagship enterprise of Arizona State University – America’s most innovative, according to U.S. News, ahead of Stanford and MIT. Emerge is:
• Free
• Family friendly
• Food court equipped
• Abundant parking and light rail stop supplied
• At 600 E Veterans Way, Tempe, AZ 85281

Emerge’s theme for 2016 is “The Future of Sport 2040.” Wrestling precedes homo sapiens. Those who could most accurately throw sharp rocks bound to long sticks molded our species. Thus, sport as a shaper of what it means to be human precedes art, much less writing. Sport is both a marvelous conversation starter and unifier among humanists and technologists – we humans have been cheering on our heroes for a very long time. At Emerge we take that to 2040.

Emerge 2016 is going to be a major phenom and significant question provoker. Our visitations from 2040 include super-cyborgs, athletes inspiring cancer researchers, eSport champions whose biggest muscle is cerebral, cosplayers, the Curtain of Distraction 2040, local-designer sport-inspired fashion 2040, space sport, water-relays from a parched planet, big data enveloping the fans, women seeking intentional danger, and a dozen more. On the arena floor, filling the concourses and literally to the rafters.
Emerge is an observation deck on the future. We challenge people to express novel ideas in important ways. You can’t have better futures without better dreams.
