LSI Center Scholar launches Cisco IoT Challenge

 cisco

About one year ago, Dominic Papa, a 1L ASU law student and LSI Center Scholar, began a non-profit organization, the Institute for Digital Progress (IDP).  IDP is dedicated to transforming the City of Phoenix into a global hub of smart city technology through collaborative civic engagement. Its mission is to build better cities globally by fostering large-scale local entrepreneurship around our cities’ most pressing urban issues.

IDP recently launched the  Cisco IoT Challenge.  In Papa’s words,  “thanks in large part to Cisco leadership, this challenge will allow local IoT developers access to free technology and training to build a gigabit IoT solution to a problem faced by the Public Works Department.

While our overall mission is much grander, citizen engagement initiatives such as the Cisco IoT Challenge are going to be an important aspect of our group. These prize-based competitions will bring them into our process, help create an understanding of our mission, and enable us to earn their buy-in and from the very beginning and gain legitimacy for our efforts. It is very important that we are successful with these efforts.

We wanted to ask you to help us promote the challenge and spread the news through your networks. Below is a link to the press release as well as some social media hashtags. Also, if anyone would like to participate as a mentor, or assist the challenge in any way, please let me know.”
