Congratulations – Student Poster Winners

One of the highlights of the annual Governance of Emerging Technologies Conference is the student poster session, when students from any academic institution are invited to present a poster related to a theme of the conference.  This year, the top two posters, selected by the conference committee, were awarded a cash prize of $500 for first place and $250 for second place.

We are very pleased to announce that a Sandra Day O’Connor College Of Law student took second place!  Below is a photo of 3L Lucille “Lucy” Tournas and her poster titled Brain Computer Interface (BCI) for Human Enhancement.

One of the “hot” areas, creating a lot of buzz  in the law, technology and policy space is synthetic enhancement.  Lucy’s poster highlights the pros & cons of artificially augmented human intelligence, including the applicable technology, legal, ethical & technical obstacles, risks and regulatory oversight.

Paige Williams, an ASU Biomedical Science major took home first place.

~ Congratulations Paige and Lucy ~
