A partnership between the public, private industry, and Arizona State University will help use emerging technologies and data analytics to guide Phoenix into its smart-city future.
Faculty Fellow Diana Bowman heads up the Center for Smart Cities and Regions, which has partnered with the Arizona Institute for Digital Progress (IDP) and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council for the Greater Phoenix Smart Region Initiative. ASU will serve as a research center and test bed for forward-thinking policies and emerging technologies.
The initiative will work on issues like autonomous vehicle use, policy and technology needed to combat rising temperatures, smart energy systems, and more. Bowman and Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law student and IDP’s executive director Dominic Papa recently discussed the initiative with Government Technology Magazine.
