The WE Empower Challenge is a competition for women entrepreneurs with ideas that advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Student judges, including Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and LST Certificate student Ember Van Vranken, sent five winning competitors to the 2018 UN Global Engagement Summit in New York.
The five winning women entrepreneurs include:
- Hadeel Mustafa Anabtawi (Jordan): The Alchemist Lab
- Marijana Savic (Serbia): NGO Atina
- Marta del Rio Villanueva (Peru): Wasi Organics
- Shimrit Perkol-Finkel (Israel): ECOncrete
- Habiba Ali (Nigeria): Sosai Renewable Energies
Van Vranken got the opportunity to attend the UN Global Engagement Summit, accompanied by Faculty Fellow Diana Bowman, and shadow the five entrepreneurs through five days of bootcamps, talks, pitch competitions, and award galas. Van Vranken’s first-person account of this exciting trip is available on ASU Now.
