LSI Scholar Profile: Alec Tyra

Hometown: Roseville, California

Education: B.S. Chemistry with emphasis in Environmental Chemistry at UC Davis

Before law school, Alec graduated with Highest Honors from the University of California, Davis with research in environmental geochemistry and paleoclimatology. His researched focused on deriving a reliable paleothermometer from noble gases dissolved in water trapped in stalagmites. He also presented research in the legal and scientific implications of hydraulic fracturing on ground water in California. Alec is an O’Connor honors fellow interested in an environmental law. He decided to attend law school to help combine his research in climate change with environmental policy.

Fun Facts:

  • Played guitar and sang in a band in high school.
  • LA Dodgers fan.
  • The only one of his siblings not getting a PhD.
