2013 Golden Goose Award

The Golden Goose Award Ceremony is being held on September 19, 2013 on Capitol Hill.  Established by a group of congressmen, the award is bestowed upon and celebrates scientists whose research, with the help of federal funding, has made a significant contribution to society.   The upcoming ceremony will honor Alvin Roth, David Gale (deceased) and Llloyd Shapley whose work led to the creation of “matching” algorithms used to pair individuals to schools,  organ donors to recipients and one relationship seeker to another.  Also receiving an award are Thomas Brock and Hudson Freeze whose research and discoveries led to the replication and study of DNA, helping to propel the field of genomics to where it is today.  These esteemed scientists will be joined by Dr. John Eng who is being recognized for his efforts with regard to the discovery of a novel treatment for diabetes involving the use of gila monster venom.  To read more see here and at  http://www.goldengooseaward.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Two-New-Golden-Goose-Awards-Announced-9-12-13.pdf.
