Tuesday Triple Trivia Tease for February 4, 2014

3 Questions. 3 Hints. 3 Answers. Every Tuesday.

1. What extraordinary approach is being taken by one pharmaceutical company to help the ordinary?

Hint:

Answer: UCB, a Belgian company has established a contest to locate physically “gifted” people to assist scientists with the development of medicines for ordinary people.  UCB hopes to identify and study the genetic traits of “superhuman” individuals, for instance, people who are resistant to pain,  in order to provide effective drug treatments to those on the opposite end of the corresponding health spectrum.  Read the extraordinary details here.

2. A new, innovative use for robots.  What is it?

Hint:

Answer: police officers seem to be enjoying more off-duty time in Kinshasa (Congo) after the installation of two traffic-directing robots.   The strapping fellows appear to be more intimidating than the ubiquitous traffic light or cop.  Read more here.

3. Tops-Down & Bottoms-up might be viewed as an oxymoron in most cases.  But not here.  What makes this concept fly so nicely?

Hint:

Answer: finally, a beer drone.  On a short-lived flight, unfortunately.  The FAA shut down Lakemaid Beer‘s drone delivery operation as it violated a variety of regulations.  The ice fishermen are peeved – although they never got a taste of what they will be missing.  Read the story here.
