Remote access to live footage has its benefits and detriments. This past week, another point was scored on the detriments side when data watchdogs discovered a website in the business of accessing and streaming private monitoring systems’ footage for the world to see. Avoiding such a flagrant privacy breach is easy. It simply requires changing the default password as soon as the monitoring device is hooked up. According to a spokesperson for the site, it was merely engaged in the mischievous activity to alert the unassuming public to the security breaches.
