In Predictive Technologies Will Alter the Way we Live, Daniel Faggella discusses the influence big data has had on the ESP-like capabilities of technologies we use in our every-day lives. The common thread among all the predictive technologies that are out there is their capability to draw inferences. Faggella highlights some of the potential effects of predictive technologies — such as making our lives easier while promoting local commercial interests — and existing tensions between general and narrow AI in the commercial sector. He concludes that as AI continues to be refined it will likely move from “predicting to more of a knowing, ultimately changing the way in which humans and machines interact in the future.”
