Genetics Liability Workshop Recap

On November 2, 2015, expert physicians, attorneys, scientists, industry, ASU professors and students gathered from across the nation to examine human genomic and malpractice liability at ASU’s Skysong facility, courtesy of the Center for Law, Science & Innovation.  Discussion centered around five presentations that focused on current science, implications, responsibilities, shortcomings, vulnerabilities, barriers and solutions to effective patient care impacting physicians, patients, genetic counselors and other stakeholders.  Also highlighted were mechanisms currently lacking in order to ease the transition into this litigation-susceptible, fast-growing, complex and data-rich area that is increasingly becoming part of life-enhancing and life-saving, quality patient care.  The workshop presenters were  Gary Marchant, Doug Campos-Outcalt, Alexis Abboud, Amalia Issa and Josh Covey.  Their presentations are available here:
