A terrific piece by Greg Watry, writing for R&D Magazine, on Augmented Reality (AR). Watry highlights Bryce Newell‘s experiences with and research into AR, noting that Newell’s top AR candidate for usefulness (so far) is Google Translate’s Word Lens feature. As with so many technologies, Watry emphasizes that we need to begin focusing on the implications of AR and formulate appropriate policy and laws while such technology is not yet in widespread use. Newell himself addresses potential legal and policy concerns in his co-authored paper, “Augmented Reality: A Technology and Policy Primer.” Read more about the conceivable issues stemming from AR here.
