The Washington Post‘s Larry Downes highlights yet another product that falls squarely into the realm of the Internet of Things, namely, the “smart” bed. Actually, it is called the “It bed”, no doubt following the trend of the “It bag” and the “It car.” The bed contains sensors that send a continuous stream of data to smart phones and other portable internet-connected devices. Essentially, the bed provides the necessary information to sleep most effectively. At the end of the day, while there are many smart products making their debut, challenges remain with regard to the seamless operation and integration of all the smart products meant to take our lives to a better level. I, for one however, love my dumb bed.
