Spring 2016 LSI Community Board Meeting & Reception

The Center hosted its spring Community Board meeting and reception on April 19, 2016 at the University Club on the ASU Tempe campus.

Center Director Lauren Burkhart welcomed attendees and congratulated the graduating Center Scholars.   GET Program Faculty Director Gary Marchant then provided remarks on upcoming Center events and opportunities, focused on issues related to improving human health-spans, legal analytics, establishing an intellectual property program and organizing a neuroscience & aging brain closed workshop (’16) and corresponding open conference (’17).

Center Faculty Fellow and Community & Executive Outreach Coordinator Yvonne Stevens gave an update on outreach, social media and blog efforts and outcomes.

Remarks by Burkhart, Marchant and Stevens were followed by technology-driven presentations by Intel representatives, Steven Bishop and Daniel Christensen (on the internet of things),  Yvonne Stevens (on technological unemployment) and Faculty Fellow  Diana Bowman (on public health and indoor tanning).  The Center’s  Program on Law & Sustainability Faculty Director, Troy Rule (on energy-related political contributions disclosure) completed the panel of presenters.  An enjoyable reception followed presentation-based discussions, allowing students, alumni, faculty and community members to connect or re-establish prior introductions.
